12 à 34 La fête des Tabernacles (Lévitique 23.35 et suivants).

Au quinzième jour... La fête durait sept jours ; c'était la plus populaire et la plus joyeuse de toutes les fêtes israélites, la fête par excellence. Aussi est-elle célébrée par un nombre de victimes plus considérable que toutes les autres. A cette époque de l'année les récoltes étaient terminées et les cœurs disposés à la reconnaissance et à la joie, à la vue de tous les biens dont l'Eternel avait comblé son peuple.

À peine le jour de l'expiation était-il passé, (ce jour spécial où les hommes examinaient leur état d'âme), que suivait celui de la fête des Tabernacles, où tout le monde devait se réjouir devant l'Éternel. Ces jours de réjouissance étaient en fait dédiés aux sacrifices. La joie et une bonne disposition du cœur, ne peuvent que nous encourager à être actifs dans le service divin. Si pendant tout leur périple sous des tentes, dans la traversée du désert, les Israélites devaient offrir des sacrifices, combien plus, en ce qui nous concerne, alors que nous avons maintenant l'église, devons-nous y accomplir nos devoirs, de façon à être réellement en communion avec Dieu.

Dans ce texte, les sacrifices spécifiques à chaque jour, sont Détaillés : à chaque fois, il y avait un sacrifice pour le péché, comme d'ailleurs lors des autres fêtes. Nos prières, qui sont en quelque sorte des sacrifices et des offrandes, ne sauraient être acceptées par Dieu, si nous n'avions pas le regard fixé sur Jésus, Celui qui s'est sacrifié et qui s'est fait « péché » pour nous. Aucun de nos services dans l'assemblée ne devrait être accompli sans une réelle piété.

Tous les détails de ce texte, nous rappellent notre culpabilité. La vie ici bas, dans la chair, doit être animée par la foi envers le Fils de Dieu, et ce, tant que nous ne pourrons directement Le contempler et Le louer pour Sa miséricorde : c'est en effet Jésus qui a lavé nos péchés dans Son propre sang. À Lui soit l'honneur et la gloire, à jamais ! Amen.
