Premier exemple, dans la collection chapitres 10 à 22, d'un proverbe où la comparaison se présente sous la forme d'une simple juxtaposition des deux termes mis en présence, sans particule comparative.

L'anneau d'or, suspendu à la narine droite, était un ornement favori des Orientales (Genèse 24.47). D'autre part, on met des anneaux de métal au groin des porcs pour les empêcher de ronger. Mais on leur en mettrait d'or, qu'ils n'en resteraient pas moins des animaux immondes. Ainsi la beauté ne suffit point à rendre recommandable une femme qui manque de sens ; elle ne fait que de mettre davantage en saillie sa pauvreté intellectuelle et morale.
