16 à 23 Israël amené en Egypte. Direction étrange, mais salutaire, donnée à l'histoire du peuple élu. Ce souvenir pouvait faire comprendre aux captifs de Babylone que la même sagesse divine les conduisait par l'épreuve au relèvement.

Sur la terre : spécialement sur celle de Canaan.

Le pain, leur soutien, hébreu : le bâton du pain (Psaumes 104.15 ; Lévitique 26.26).
