Il abandonna la demeure de Silo. Le départ de l'arche pour le camp avait été décidé par les chefs du peuple, comme moyen de salut (1Samuel 4.1). Mais cette mesure était voulue de Dieu dans un tout autre sens : il abandonnait définitivement un lieu profané par les péchés du peuple et des sacrificateurs eux-mêmes.
