World English Bible for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Le royaume de Dieu n'est pas le manger et le boire : manière concise et vive de dire que le règne de Dieu, ce saint état de communion vivante avec lui, de vraie liberté dans l'obéissance constante aux directions de son Esprit, ne consiste pas dans la licence de manger et de boire ce que bon nous semble, sans égards pour les scrupules de nos frères.

Son principe constitutif, c'est l'action de l'Esprit-Saint qui seul nous introduit dans la communion avec Dieu et nous y maintient, et qui produit en nous la justice, c'est-à-dire le pardon des péchés et la sainteté de la vie, la paix avec Dieu d'abord, (Romains 5.1) puis avec nos frères, et une sainte joie qui affranchit l'âme de ses pénibles anxiétés (1Thessaloniciens 1.6) et la dispose à la bienveillance envers le prochain.

Ces sentiments, entretenus par le Saint-Esprit, se manifestent d'abord dans les rapports de l'âme avec Dieu ; mais ils ont ensuite leur répercussion dans nos relations avec nos frères. (comparez Galates 5.22)
