Promesse se rapportant à toutes les villes de Juda qui doivent renaître, aussi bien qu'à la capitale et au temple.

Le sens général de cette vision nous paraît être la réinstallation d'Israël dans la Terre Sainte qui lui a été donnée pour patrie, après le long exil qu'il vient de subir. Semblable aux myrtes qui croissent dans ce vallon, Israël habite de nouveau cette terre bénie et l'ange de l'Eternel y habite avec lui et veille de là sur toute la terre pour diriger les destinées des nations en faveur du peuple que Dieu a choisi.

Dans le texte hébreu, le chapitre 2 commence avec le verset 18.
