Qui dédaignerait... ? Ce n'était point seulement pour la construction du temple, c'était pour toute l'œuvre de la restauration d'Israël, que Zorobabel avait besoin d'apprendre à contempler sans découragement le temps des petites choses.

Ils se sont réjouis... Quel motif pour Zorobabel de se réjouir du spectacle qu'il a sous les yeux, au lieu de s'en attrister, comme il le faisait sans doute, que la pensée surprenante qu'il y a de la joie jusque dans le cœur de l'Eternel, en contemplant cette œuvre si chétive à vues humaines ! Le serviteur ne se réjouirait-il pas de ce dont se réjouit le Maître ?

Le fil à plomb : Pour bâtir le temple.

Ces sept là. Ces mêmes sept yeux de l'Eternel dont il a été parlé 3.9, et dont il est dit qu'ils étaient fixés sur cette pierre.

Qui parcourent la terre. En contemplant la terre, la toute-science divine n'y rencontre rien qui égale en prix à ses yeux cet humble travail de Zorobabel construisant l'édifice auguste auquel est attaché le salut du monde.
