World English Bible For we must all be revealed before the judgment seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Grec : "Par le corps," qui est l'instrument de nos actions.

- Ce jugement à subir, qui paraît être en contradiction avec Jean 3.18 ; 5.24, non moins qu'avec la glorieuse assurance exprimée dans les premiers versets de ce chapitre, n'en reste pas moins universel, même pour les croyants.

Pour eux, à la vérité, l'assurance de la vie éternelle subsiste, puisqu'ils la possèdent en eux dès ce monde, et que celui qui siégera comme juge est leur Sauveur ; mais, d'une part, leur jugement, à eux, sera la reconnaissance, la proclamation glorieuse de leur salut, et, d'autre part, cet acte solennel reste comme un redoutable avertissement contre toute fausse sécurité et toute espérance mal fondée.

La plus complète assurance n'est pas incompatible avec la crainte et le tremblement (Philippiens 2.12) qui poussent le chrétien à affermir sa vocation et son élection. (2Pierre 1.10) Aussi verset 10 donne-t-il la raison (car) pour laquelle "nous nous efforçons de lui être agréables." (verset 9)
