Par ces mots : Nous sommes tes os et ta chair, ils veulent dire que David appartient par le sang, non seulement à la tribu de Juda, mais au peuple entier. Ainsi cessa la division qui avait existé entre Israël et Juda, et fut rétablie pour un temps l'unité nationale.

David fut proclamé roi une troisième fois. Son ascension était progressive, sa foi étant mise à l'épreuve, en vue d'acquérir l'expérience nécessaire. Son royaume fut pour ainsi dire à l'image de celui du Messie, qui, durant Son ministère, arriva à Son apogée graduellement. Jésus est ainsi devenu notre Frère, Il revêtit notre propre nature, afin de devenir notre Prince et notre Sauveur : le pécheur humilié, peut de ce fait, être encouragé, par cette relation pleine d'amour, pour obtenir le salut, se soumettre à Son autorité, et implorer Sa protection.
