- Ces faux docteurs se trouveront en très grand nombre, car l'apôtre dit proprement : ils les amoncelleront, et cela, comme ce mot l'indique encore, sans discernement.

- Une démangeaison d'entendre des choses agréables rend bien, par une périphrase, la pensée de l'apôtre ; mais il dit littéralement, en réunissant 2Timothée 4.3 et 2Timothée 4.4 "Ils ne supporteront point la saine doctrine,...étant chatouillés d'ouïe, ils s'assembleront des docteurs selon leurs convoitises, et ils détourneront l'ouïe de la vérité." En sorte que ce mot : chatouillés d'ouïe correspond à celui-ci : leurs propres convoitises, et forme un contraste absolu avec la vérité.
