Chaque mot de ce verset est un trait d'une valeur infinie, dépeignant le caractère apostolique de Paul : durant trois ans, (Actes 19.10, note) sans cesse, nuit et jour, chacun, avec larmes. (verset 19)

Larmes de joie, de douleur, de pitié, d'angoisse, d'amour. Ces larmes étaient une puissance dans le ministère de Paul.
