World English Bible to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

Le but de la vocation de Paul est magnifiquement exposé par lui dans ces paroles.

Il y a là une chaîne de grâces divines à laquelle ne manque pas un anneau, depuis le moment où les yeux s'ouvrent à la lumière de l'Evangile jusqu'à celui où une âme sauvée prend sa part parmi les bienheureux sanctifiés. (Esaïe 35.5 ; 42.6,7,16)

Les mots si importants : par la foi en moi, indiquent le moyen d'obtenir la rémission ou le pardon des péchés, et par là même le salut éternel.

C'était, pour les auditeurs de Paul, une invitation à prendre leur part dans toutes ces grâces divines.

- Cette partie du discours ne renferme que des idées et des expressions très familières à notre apôtre, preuve manifeste de la fidélité avec laquelle Luc les a recueillies. (Colossiens 1.12 et suivants ; Ephésiens 2.2 ; 5.8 ; 2Corinthiens 4.4,6 ; Actes 20.32)
