Westcott et Hort, Nestle, plusieurs autres pensent que c'est la leçon originale.

Afin d'offrir à ses auditeurs et à tout son peuple les éternelles bénédictions dont il vient de parler, l'apôtre leur rappelle qu'ils sont les fils des prophètes, ceux en faveur de qui ils ont parlé, et par conséquent aussi les fils, c'est-à-dire les héritiers, de l'alliance traitée avec les pères.

Cette alliance avait pour charte la parole immuable souvent répétée à Abraham : Toutes les familles de la terre seront bénies en ta postérité. (Genèse 12.3.22.18)
