World English Bible Won't the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.

Comment ne pas reconnaître ici le tableau d'un tremblement de terre, ainsi que dans les autres passages 2.13-16 ; 4.11-13 ; 6.11 ? Le sol de la Terre Sainte s'émeut en quelque sorte d'indignation contre les abominations qui se commettent à sa surface.

Dans le deuil. Chaque habitant aura perdu l'un des siens, comme dans la dernière plaie d'Egypte.

De même que le niveau du Nil s'élève et s'abaisse selon que l'inondation régulière s'accroît ou diminue, ainsi le sol ondulera.
