Ce n'est point avec nos pères...

Les pères sont ici tous les israélites qui ont précédé la génération actuelle depuis Abraham. Cette pensée que le privilège de l'alliance par le moyen de la loi a été réservé à ceux qui composent la génération actuelle, doit les pénétrer du sentiment de la grandeur de cette grâce.

Aujourd'hui tous vivants : merveilleusement préservés de tous les dangers qui vous menaçaient durant la traversée du désert et dans les guerres qui ont suivi. Toute la jeune génération avait été conservée en vie et était là, prête à jouir dès maintenant de tous les bienfaits de cette alliance.
