Ambassadeur dans les chaînes : quel contraste ! C'est ainsi que l'envoyé ressemble à Celui qui l'a envoyé ; Jésus-Christ n'avait pas été mieux traité par les hommes.

On comprend que, dans cet état, l'apôtre parle à deux reprises de cette sainte hardiesse dont il a besoin et qu'il attend des prières de ses frères.

En lui, c'est-à-dire en l'Evangile, soit que l'apôtre désigne le fondement sur lequel il s'appuie, soit qu'il entende la prédication de la Bonne nouvelle qui lui incombe.
