14 à 21 La sortie de Babylone.

J'ai enroyé... Cyrus, avec ses Mèdes et ses Perses, est déjà en route. Voyez 41.2 ; 13.3.

Tous : la multitude qui remplit Babylone, ce rendez-vous des peuples (13.14 ; Jérémie 50.16).

Les Chaldéens eux-mêmes, les maîtres du pays, devront fuir sur leurs navires. Babylone faisait un commerce étendu par le moyen de la navigation sur l'Euphrate et le golfe Persique. On peut voir la description de ces navires de commerce dans Hérodote (I, 194).

Ce texte prédit la délivrance de Babylone, mais il fait aussi référence à de plus grands événements : la rédemption des pécheurs, par Christ, la conversion de Gentils, et le rassemblement du peuple juif, y sont aussi décrits.

Tout ce qui a été accompli pour sauver les pécheurs, et pour amener le croyant à contempler la Gloire céleste, est vraiment merveilleux ; cela est le résultat de l'action initiale et extraordinaire de l'Amour divin, en vue du rachat de l'homme !
