Dans ce texte, Sion est comparée à une veuve affligée, privée de ses enfants. En fait, ils se rassemblent tous vers elle, de façon à ce qu'elle trouve l'assurance et le réconfort.

En certaines périodes, l'église est « désolée et bien méprisable » ; malgré tout ses afflictions ne dureront pas éternellement, et Dieu saura y remédier. Il est tout à fait capable de prédisposer le cœur des hommes en faveur du rapatriement des Israélites, même parmi les « Gentils ». Les enfants d'Israël reviendront au « pays promis », ils seront les enfants du Dieu vivant !

Sachons donc consciencieusement conduire, avec tendresse, les jeunes convertis et ceux qui sont fragiles dans la foi. Les dirigeants de l'église protègent cette dernière. Il sera manifeste aux yeux de tous, que Dieu est le Seigneur souverain de toute la terre. Ceux qui, dans l'exercice de la foi, de l'espérance, et de la patience, s'attendent à Dieu quant à l'accomplissement de Ses promesses, ne seront jamais confondus !
