Esaïe 56.10

Ses gardiens, ou ses sentinelles ceux qui auraient mission d'éclairer Israël et de lui signaler le danger ; en première ligne, les prophètes (21.6 ; Ezéchiel 33.1-7), puis les prêtres et les chefs politiques du peuple. Esaïe les compare d'abord à des chiens muets, paresseux et gloutons, qui négligent d'aboyer quand approche le loup. On voit par 28.7 et suivants que de tels prophètes n'étaient pas rares de son temps, et par Jérémie 29.1-32 qu'ils étaient fort nombreux au temps de l'exil.
