La fumée qui remplit la maison est celle du parfum offert sur l'autel (verset 6). Dans le temple de Jérusalem on brûlait journellement l'encens sur l'autel d'or du Lieu saint. Cet encens symbolisait l'adoration et la prière (Psaumes 141.2 ; Luc 1.10). C'est pourquoi la fumée s'élève avec la voix des séraphins.
