Ezéchiel 14.9

Et si le prophète se laisse entraîner à prononcer quelque parole, c'est moi, l'Éternel, qui aurai entraîné ce prophète-là ; j'étendrai ma main contre lui, et je le retrancherai du milieu de mon peuple d'Israël.

Le prophète ainsi consulté pourrait, sans mauvaise intention, se laisser aller à donner un conseil à de telles gens, comme Ezéchiel, par exemple, eût pu la faire en ce moment envers les anciens qui l'entouraient. Mais ce serait une faiblesse coupable ; car Dieu n'a rien à dire à ces hommes, aussi longtemps qu'ils persistent dans leur infidélité.

Qui aurai entraîné. Le prophète persistant à parler malgré Dieu, Dieu dirigera sa parole de telle sorte que le conseil qu'il donnera tournera à la fois à la ruine de celui qui le reçoit et au châtiment de celui qui l'aura donné (verset 10). L'exemple de Balaam peut, jusqu'à un certain point, servir d'illustration à cette parole.
