Les versets 23 à 32 dépeignent les derniers excès auxquels Israël s'est abandonné. A mesure que les siècles avaient marché, son idolâtrie s'était accrue. Ce n'étaient pas seulement les faux dieux des peuples voisins, Cananéens, Syriens (Baal, Astarté.), Ammonites et Moabites (Moloch), qui avaient été importés dans le pays ; c'étaient aussi ceux des Egyptiens, des Assyriens et des Chaldéens, tellement qu'il ne semblait ne plus y avoir plus y avoir une place propice dans la terre de Juda qui ne fut occupée par quelque autel idolâtre.
