Au grand jour des expiations seulement. (Lévitique 16) Afin d'accomplir tous les actes de son service prescrits pour ce jour-là, le souverain sacrificateur entrait peut-être plus d'une fois au delà du voile : (Lévitique 16.12,15) mais quoi qu'il en soit, ce n'était que ce seul jour de l'année, et pour ce seul service : c'est tout ce que veut dire l'auteur. Il fait expressément remarquer ici trois choses :

1° Entrée dans le lieu très saint une fois l'année ;

2° le souverain sacrificateur seul en ayant le privilège ;

3° en y portant du sang pour l'expiation des péchés. Et il indique aussitôt après le sens de cette institution. (Hébreux 9.8-12)

Grec : "Pour lui-même et pour les ignorances du peuple." Ce mot est pris au sens moral. (Hébreux 5.2 note.)
