World English Bible The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."

Ce fut, sans doute, dans une réunion subséquente que les disciples dirent à Thomas, avec la joie qui rayonnait sur leurs visages : Nous avons vu le Seigneur !

Il faut remarquer dans sa réponse l'obstination de son doute qui s'exprime par des termes énergiques et répétés (cette répétition intentionnelle est effacée quand, avec Tischendorf et M. Weiss, on lit, la seconde fois, place au lieu de marque. Cette variante ne se trouve que dans A, Itala).

Thomas aboutit à cette conclusion : je ne croirai point.

Il y a, dans le grec, une double négation qui signifie : je ne croirai certainement pas.

En parlant ainsi, ce disciple pensait n'obéir qu'à sa raison, et pourtant il était très déraisonnable. (verset 29, note.)
