Jérémie 34.17

C’est pourquoi, voici ce que déclare l’Eternel : Puisque vous ne m’avez pas obéi en libérant chacun son compatriote et son prochain, eh bien, moi, je vais vous « libérer » — l’Eternel le déclare — pour l’épée, la peste et la famine, et vous inspirerez l’effroi à tous les royaumes de la terre.

Je vais donc proclamer un décret de libération pour vous, et ce à l’intention de l'épée, de la peste et de la famine, déclare l'Eternel, et je ferai de vous une source de terreur pour tous les royaumes de la terre. Vous ne m'avez point obéi... En revenant en arrière, ils avaient annulé leur première obéissance.

Je vous donne la liberté... Menace terrible sous la forme ironique d'un jeu de mots. il y a correspondance entre la faute et la punition ; comparez une manière de parler semblable dans la menace contre Hanania, 28.15-16.
