Jérémie 4.22

C'est que mon peuple est insensé. Ils ne me connaissent pas. Ce sont des enfants insensés, dépourvus d'intelligence. Ils sont habiles pour faire le mal ; mais ils ne savent pas faire le bien.

World English Bible "For my people are foolish, they don't know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but to do good they have no knowledge."

Le prophète répond au soupir du verset 24, que le châtiment ne peut cesser tant que ses causes morales subsistent. La folie consiste à ne pas connaître Dieu ; cette folie est toute morale, puisqu'elle s'allie avec l'habileté dans le mal.
