11 et 12 Contraste entre la joie insolente des Chaldéens qui triomphent de la ruine de Jérusalem (verset 11) et leur chute honteuse au moment de la ruine de Babylone (verset 12). L'ironie est d'autant plus poignante que les deux faits, successifs dans l'histoire, apparaissent simultanément dans l'esprit du prophète.

Comme une génisse. D'après la loi mosaïque, Deutéronome 25.4, l'animal employé à fouler le blé sur l'aire pouvait s'en repaître librement.
