Près de sa bannière : celle sous laquelle marchent les trois tribus qui campent du même côté.

Sous les enseignes de leurs maisons patriarcales. Ce dernier mot désigne ici la tribu ; chaque tribu avait ainsi son enseigne particulière. Qu'étaient ces signes militaires ? Les interprètes juifs ont fait de nombreuses suppositions (drapeaux de différentes couleurs correspondant aux pierres du pectoral, figures d'animaux, etc.) qui ne méritent aucune créance.

Vis-à-vis : le front tourné vers le Tabernacle.
