World English Bible They have set up kings, but not by me. They have made princes, and I didn't approve. Of their silver and their gold they have made themselves idols, that they may be cut off.

Les deux grands péchés du peuple des dix tribus : il s'est fait des rois et des dieux de son propre choix.

Des idoles.

Il s'agit ici essentiellement des veaux d'or.

Pour qu'ils leur fussent ôtés. En changeant en idoles l'or et l'argent que Dieu lui avait donnés, Israël travaille lui-même à se faire dépouiller de ces métaux précieux, puisqu'un emploi si coupable de ces richesses ne peut aboutir qu'à la ruine et au pillage du pays.
