Que ses jours soient peu nombreux. Comparez Psaumes 55.2. Quand la prière elle-même ne fait qu'aggraver le mal, les jours d'un homme sont comptés. Sa place va rester vide et sa charge vacante. Le mot de charge, proprement : surveillance, présidence, fait allusion à une position élevée. C'est cette parole que Pierre applique au sort de Judas (Actes 1.20).
