Psaumes 57.4

Il enverra... Le verbe reste sans complément, mais on comprend que Dieu enverra du ciel ce que le ciel contient et ce dont la terre a besoin en ce moment : des forces, des lumières, des secours efficaces. Au reste, après l'interruption du vers suivant, la pensée est reprise, et toutes les interventions divines sont rangées sous les deux noms de grâce et de fidélité (ou vérité) (Psaumes 24.10).

En dépit des blasphèmes, ou : tandis que blasphème... Le sens littéral est : Il blasphème, mon engloutisseur ! Ce court tronçon de phrase est jeté brusquement au milieu de l'expression sereine de la foi du psalmiste. Aussi comprend-on qu'un jeu d'instruments vienne, même au milieu d'un verset, compléter ce qu'a d'inachevé cette courte parenthèse et ramener insensiblement la pensée des auditeurs aux communications célestes dont il vient d'être parlé.
