1 Now accept one who is weak in faith, but not for disputes over opinions.2 One man has faith to eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables.3 Don't let him who eats despise him who doesn't eat. Don't let him who doesn't eat judge him who eats, for God has accepted him.4 Who are you who judge another's servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand.5 One man esteems one day as more important. Another esteems every day alike. Let each man be fully assured in his own mind.6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks. He who doesn't eat, to the Lord he doesn't eat, and gives God thanks.7 For none of us lives to himself, and none dies to himself.8 For if we live, we live to the Lord. Or if we die, we die to the Lord. If therefore we live or die, we are the Lord's.9 For to this end Christ died, rose, and lived again, that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.11 For it is written, "'As I live,' says the Lord, 'to me every knee will bow. 13 Therefore let's not judge one another any more, but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block in his brother's way, or an occasion for falling.14 I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except that to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.15 Yet if because of food your brother is grieved, you walk no longer in love. Don't destroy with your food him for whom Christ died.16 Then don't let your good be slandered,17 for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.18 For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.19 So then, let us follow after things which make for peace, and things by which we may build one another up.20 Don't overthrow God's work for food's sake. All things indeed are clean, however it is evil for that man who creates a stumbling block by eating.21 It is good to not eat meat, drink wine, nor do anything by which your brother stumbles, is offended, or is made weak.22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who doesn't judge himself in that which he approves.23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because it isn't of faith; and whatever is not of faith is sin. (14:24) Now to him who is able to establish you according to my Good News and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret through long ages, (14:25) but now is revealed, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, is made known for obedience of faith to all the nations; (14:26) to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! 1 Accueillez celui qui est mal affermi dans la foi, sans vous ériger en juges de ses opinions.2 Ainsi l’un a la conviction qu’il peut manger de tout. L’autre, qui est mal affermi dans la foi, ne mange que des légumes.3 Que celui qui mange de tout ne méprise pas celui qui ne fait pas comme lui, et que celui qui ne mange pas de viande ne condamne pas celui qui en mange, car Dieu lui a fait bon accueil.4 Qui es-tu, toi, pour juger le serviteur d’un autre ? Qu’il tienne bon ou qu’il tombe, c’est l’affaire de son maître. Mais il tiendra bon car le Seigneur, son maître, a le pouvoir de le faire tenir.5 Pour celui-ci, tel jour vaut plus qu’un autre ; pour celui-là, ils ont tous la même valeur : à chacun d’avoir une pleine conviction en lui-même.6 Celui qui fait une distinction entre les jours le fait pour le Seigneur. Celui qui mange le fait aussi pour le Seigneur, puisqu’il remercie Dieu pour sa nourriture. Et celui qui s’abstient de certains aliments le fait encore pour le Seigneur, car lui aussi remercie Dieu.7 Aucun de nous ne vit pour lui-même et aucun ne meurt pour lui-même.8 Si nous vivons, nous vivons pour le Seigneur, et si nous mourons, nous mourons pour le Seigneur. Ainsi, que nous vivions ou que nous mourions, nous appartenons au Seigneur.9 En effet, le Christ est mort et il est revenu à la vie pour être le Seigneur des morts et des vivants.10 Et toi, pourquoi condamnes-tu ton frère ? Ou toi, pourquoi méprises-tu ton frère ? Ne devons-nous pas tous comparaître devant le tribunal de Dieu ?11 Car il est écrit : Aussi vrai que je vis, dit le Seigneur, tout genou ploiera devant moi et toute langue me reconnaîtra comme Dieu.12 Ainsi chacun de nous rendra compte à Dieu pour lui-même.Ne pas faire tomber son frère
13 Cessons donc de nous condamner les uns les autres. Prenez plutôt la décision de ne rien mettre en travers du chemin d’un frère qui puisse le faire trébucher ou tomber.14 Pour moi, je sais et je suis pleinement convaincu, en accord avec la pensée du Seigneur Jésus, que rien n’est impur en soi. Cependant, si quelqu’un considère que telle chose est impure, alors elle est vraiment impure pour lui.15 Si donc, à cause d’un aliment, tu fais du tort à ton frère, tu ne te conduis pas selon l’amour. Ne va pas, pour un aliment, causer la perte de celui pour qui le Christ est mort.16 Que ce qui est bien pour vous ne devienne pas pour d’autres une occasion de dire du mal de vous.17 Car le règne de Dieu ne consiste pas à réglementer le manger et le boire, mais, par l’Esprit Saint, à nous rendre justes et à nous donner la paix et la joie.18 Celui qui sert le Christ de cette manière est agréable à Dieu et estimé des hommes.19 Ainsi donc, cherchons toujours ce qui contribue à favoriser la paix et à nous faire grandir les uns les autres dans la foi.20 Ne va pas, pour un aliment, détruire l’œuvre de Dieu. Tout est *pur, c’est vrai. Mais il est mal de manger tel aliment si cela risque de faire tomber quelqu’un dans le péché.21 Ce qui est bien, c’est de s’abstenir de viande, de vin, bref, de tout ce qui peut entraîner la chute de ton frère.22 Garde tes convictions, pour ce qui te concerne, devant Dieu. Heureux celui qui ne se condamne pas lui-même par ce qu’il approuve.23 Mais celui qui mange tout en ayant des doutes à ce sujet est déjà condamné, car son attitude ne découle pas de la foi. Or tout ce qui ne découle pas de la foi est péché.
