Vision de l'ange qui tient un petit livre et le fait manger à Jean.

Chapitre 10.

1 à 11 L'ange et le petit livre. Les sept tonnerres. Ordre à Jean de dévorer le livre.

Q porte : un ange puissant.

Cet ange puissant (Apocalypse 5.2) descend du ciel pour un message important dont les caractères se trouvent déjà symbolisés par les attributs sous lesquels il apparaît à Jean. La nuée qui l'enveloppe est celle qui accompagne les manifestations de Dieu aux hommes (Matthieu 17.5 ; Apocalypse 1.7 ; 14.14)

L'arc-en-ciel qui est au-dessus de sa tête environnait le trône de Dieu dans la vision de Apocalypse 4.3 ; il est le signe de l'alliance de grâce et adoucit ce qu'il y a de terrible dans son visage comme le soleil et ses pieds comme des colonnes de feu, (Apocalypse 1.15,16) qui le montrent dans sa sainteté, prêt à consumer tout ce qui s'oppose à lui. C'est qu'en effet son message est un message à la fois de justice et de grâce : de justice pour le monde, dont il annonce la ruine finale, de grâce pour l'Église de Dieu, dont il va proclamer le dernier triomphe.

L'Ange de l'alliance présente un petit livre ouvert, avant que ne suivent les sept tonnerres. (Apocalypse 10:1-4)
À la fin des prophéties suivantes, la notion de temps ne doit plus exister. (Apocalypse 10:5-7)
Une voix demande à l'apôtre de manger ce livre ; (Apocalypse 10:8-10)
elle lui demande aussi de prophétiser de nouveau. (Apocalypse 10:11)

Dans ce texte, l'apôtre a une autre vision. La personne qui annonce cette représentation était probablement notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, ou une personne destinée à montrer la Gloire de notre Sauveur.

Sa gloire, trop grande pour être perçue par des yeux « humains », est voilée par une nuée ; un voile est également jeté sur les prérogatives de cet ange.

Il y avait un arc-en-ciel sur sa tête ; notre Seigneur demeure toujours attentif à Son alliance, quant à cet arc. Sa voix terrible a été reprise par l’écho des sept tonnerres ; ce sont les chemins terribles et solennels qui mènent à l'Esprit de Dieu.

Nous ne connaissons pas le message des sept tonnerres, ni les raisons pour lesquelles ils n’ont pas été révélés. Certains événements importants de l'histoire, concernant parfois l'Église, ne sont pas toujours notifiés dans les prophéties...

Le salut du justifié et le succès définitif de la véritable piété ici-bas, ne sont assurés que par la Parole infaillible du Seigneur. Bien que ce ne soit pas encore l’heure, Son retour ne saurait pourtant tarder. Bientôt, la notion de temps ne sera plus ; si nous sommes sauvés par le salut offert par Christ, une éternité heureuse nous attend : nous pourrons nous réjouir dans le ciel, dans la Gloire de Christ, pour tout ce qu’Il a accompli pour sauver le monde de ses péchés !
