Le songe qui est cité dans ce passage semble avoir assez peu d'importance ; en fait, l'interprétation du texte, montre avec évidence qu'il venait de l'Éternel et que le nom de Gédéon était synonyme de terreur pour les Madianites. Gédéon comprit, par le récit du rêve de cet homme, qu'il sortirait vainqueur du combat contre Madian. Il loua l'Éternel sans attendre, puis retourna vers les trois cents hommes de son armée.

Quel que soit l'endroit où nous nous trouvons, nous pouvons toujours nous adresser à Dieu et Lui apporter notre louange. Ce Dernier doit recevoir notre adoration, ce qui nous fortifie d'ailleurs dans notre foi. Sa Providence doit être reconnue dans tous nos faits et gestes, même les plus insignifiants et dans ceux qui peuvent nous sembler accidentels !
