Grec : Et si premièrement par nous.

Le jugement de Dieu sur l'humanité, annoncé par le Sauveur, devait en effet commencer par la persécution de ses enfants, (Matthieu 24.9 et suiv) Dieu ne voulant châtier les nations qu'après qu'elles auraient mis le comble à leur endurcissement par la réjection de sa grâce.

Mais si les chrétiens eux-mêmes devaient tant avoir à souffrir de ces temps terribles, que sera ce de ceux qui resteront rebelles à tous les appels de Dieu ?

De plus, jugement signifie séparation, triage, et l'un des résultats de ces temps d'épreuves devait être de séparer entièrement les chrétiens de la nation juive et du monde.

Dans ce sens aussi le jugement devait commencer par la maison de Dieu.
