When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Yahweh, she came to prove him with hard questions.
2
She came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him of all that was in her heart.
3
Solomon told her all her questions: there was not anything hidden from the king which he didn't tell her.
4
When the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
5
and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their clothing, and his cup bearers, and his ascent by which he went up to the house of Yahweh; there was no more spirit in her.
6
She said to the king, "It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom.
7
However I didn't believe the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it. Behold, the half was not told me! Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard.
8
Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom.
9
Blessed is Yahweh your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because Yahweh loved Israel forever, therefore made he you king, to do justice and righteousness."
10
She gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones. There came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.
11
The navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug trees and precious stones.
12
The king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of Yahweh, and for the king's house, harps also and stringed instruments for the singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen, to this day.
13
King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned, and went to her own land, she and her servants.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,

besides that which the traders brought, and the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of the mixed people, and of the governors of the country.

King Solomon made two hundred bucklers of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of gold went to one buckler.
17
he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three minas of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
18
Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.
19
There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.
20
Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was nothing like it made in any kingdom.
21
All king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.
22
For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram: once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
23
So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.
24
All the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
25
They brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
26
Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
27
The king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.
28
The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; and the king's merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.
29
A chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, they brought them out by their means.

Or la reine de Séba ayant appris la renommée de Salomon à cause du Nom de l'Eternel, le vint éprouver par des questions obscures.

Et elle entra dans Jérusalem avec un fort grand train, et avec des chameaux qui portaient des choses aromatiques, et une grande quantité d'or, et de pierres précieuses ; et étant venue à Salomon, elle lui parla de tout ce qu'elle avait en son coeur.
3
Et Salomon lui expliqua tout ce qu'elle avait proposé ; il n'y eut rien que le Roi n'entendît, et qu'il ne lui expliquât.

Alors la Reine de Séba voyant toute la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu'il avait bâtie,

Et les mets de sa table, le logement de ses serviteurs, l'ordre du service de ses officiers, leurs vêtements, ses échansons, et les holocaustes qu'il offrait dans la maison de l'Eternel, elle fut toute ravie en elle-même.
6
Et elle dit au Roi : Ce que j'ai appris dans mon pays de ton état et de ta sagesse, est véritable.
7
Et je n'ai point cru ce qu'on en disait, jusqu'à ce que je sois venue, et que mes yeux l'aient vu ; et voici on ne m'en avait point rapporté la moitié ; ta sagesse et tes richesses surpassent tout ce que j'en avais entendu.
8
Ô que bienheureux sont tes gens ! ô que bienheureux sont tes serviteurs qui se tiennent continuellement devant toi, et qui écoutent ta sagesse !
9
Béni soit l'Eternel ton Dieu, qui t'a eu pour agréable, afin de te mettre sur le trône d'Israël ; car l'Eternel a aimé Israël à toujours ; et t'a établi Roi pour faire jugement et justice.
10
Puis elle fit présent au Roi de six vingts talents d'or, et d'une grande quantité de choses aromatiques, avec des pierres précieuses. Il ne vint jamais depuis une aussi grande abondance de choses aromatiques, que la Reine de Séba en donna au Roi Salomon.

Et la flotte d'Hiram, qui avait apporté de l'or d'Ophir, apporta aussi en fort grande abondance du bois d'Almugghim, et des pierres précieuses.

Et le Roi fit des barrières de ce bois d'Almugghim, pour la maison de l'Eternel, et pour la maison Royale ; il en fit aussi des violons, et des musettes pour les chantres ; il n'était point venu de ce bois d'Almugghim, et on n'en avait point vu jusqu'à ce jour-là.
13
Et le Roi Salomon donna à la Reine de Séba tout ce qu'elle souhaita, et ce qu'elle lui demanda, outre ce qu'il lui donna selon la puissance d'un Roi tel que Salomon. Puis elle s'en retourna, et revint en son pays, avec ses serviteurs.

Le poids de l'or qui revenait à Salomon chaque année, était de six cent soixante et six talents d'or ;

Sans ce qui lui revenait des facteurs marchands en gros, et de la marchandise de ceux qui vendaient en détail, et de tous les Rois d'Arabie, et des Gouverneurs de ce pays-là.
16
Le Roi Salomon fit aussi deux cents grands boucliers d'or étendu au marteau, employant six cents [pièces] d'or pour chaque bouclier.
17
Et trois cents autres boucliers d'or étendu au marteau, employant trois mines d'or pour chaque bouclier ; et le Roi les mit dans la maison du parc du Liban.

Le Roi fit aussi un grand trône d'ivoire, qu'il couvrit de fin or.
19
Ce trône avait six degrés, et le haut du trône était rond par derrière, il y avait des accoudoirs de côté et d'autre à l'endroit du siège, et deux lions étaient auprès des accoudoirs.
20
Il y avait aussi douze lions sur les six degrés [du trône], de côté et d'autre ; il ne s'en est point fait de tel dans tous les Royaumes.
21
Et toute la vaisselle du buffet du Roi Salomon était d'or ; et tous les vaisseaux de la maison du parc du Liban étaient de fin or ; il n'y en avait point d'argent ; l'argent n'était rien estimé du temps de Salomon.
22
Car le Roi avait sur mer la flotte de Tarsis avec la flotte d'Hiram ; [et] en trois ans une [fois] la flotte de Tarsis revenait, qui apportait de l'or, de l'argent, de l'ivoire, des singes, et des paons.

Ainsi le Roi Salomon fut plus grand que tous les Rois de la terre, tant en richesses qu'en sagesse.
24
Et tous les habitants de la terre recherchaient de voir la face de Salomon, pour entendre la sagesse que Dieu avait mise en son coeur.
25
Et chacun d'eux lui apportait son présent, [savoir], des vaisseaux d'argent, des vaisseaux d'or, des vêtements, des armes, des choses aromatiques, [et on lui amenait] des chevaux, et des mulets, tous les ans.
26
Salomon fit aussi amas de chariots et de gens de cheval ; tellement qu'il avait mille et quatre cents chariots, et douze mille hommes de cheval, qu'il fit conduire dans les villes où il tenait ses chariots ; il y en avait aussi auprès du Roi à Jérusalem.
27
Et le Roi fit que l'argent n'était non plus prisé [à] Jérusalem que les pierres ; et les cèdres que les figuiers sauvages qui sont dans les plaines, tant il y en avait.
28
Or quant au péage qui appartenait à Salomon, de la traite des chevaux qu'on tirait d'Egypte, et du fil, les fermiers du Roi se payaient en fil.
29
Mais chaque chariot montait et sortait d'Egypte pour six cents [pièces] d'argent, et chaque cheval pour cent cinquante ; et ainsi on en tirait par le moyen de ses fermiers pour tous les Rois des Héthiens, et pour les Rois de Syrie.

וּמַֽלְכַּת־שְׁבָ֗א שֹׁמַ֛עַת אֶת־שֵׁ֥מַע שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה לְשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה וַתָּבֹ֥א לְנַסֹּת֖וֹ בְּחִידֽוֹת׃

וַתָּבֹ֣א יְרוּשָׁלְַ֗מָה בְּחַיִל֮ כָּבֵ֣ד מְאֹד֒ גְּ֠מַלִּים נֹשְׂאִ֨ים בְּשָׂמִ֧ים וְזָהָ֛ב רַב־מְאֹ֖ד וְאֶ֣בֶן יְקָרָ֑ה וַתָּבֹא֙ אֶל־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה וַתְּדַבֵּ֣ר אֵלָ֔יו אֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה עִם־לְבָבָֽהּ׃

וַיַּגֶּד־לָ֥הּ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה אֶת־כָּל־דְּבָרֶ֑יהָ לֹֽא־הָיָ֤ה דָּבָר֙ נֶעְלָ֣ם מִן־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹ֦א הִגִּ֖יד לָֽהּ׃

וַתֵּ֙רֶא֙ מַֽלְכַּת־שְׁבָ֔א אֵ֖ת כָּל־חָכְמַ֣ת שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וְהַבַּ֖יִת אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָֽה׃

וּמַאֲכַ֣ל שֻׁלְחָנ֡וֹ וּמוֹשַׁ֣ב עֲבָדָיו֩ וּמַעֲמַ֨ד *משרתו **מְשָׁרְתָ֜יו וּמַלְבֻּֽשֵׁיהֶם֙ וּמַשְׁקָ֔יו וְעֹ֣לָת֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲלֶ֖ה בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וְלֹא־הָ֥יָה בָ֛הּ ע֖וֹד רֽוּחַ׃

וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֱמֶת֙ הָיָ֣ה הַדָּבָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי בְּאַרְצִ֑י עַל־דְּבָרֶ֖יךָ וְעַל־חָכְמָתֶֽךָ׃

וְלֹֽא־הֶאֱמַ֣נְתִּי לַדְּבָרִ֗ים עַ֤ד אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֙אתִי֙ וַתִּרְאֶ֣ינָה עֵינַ֔י וְהִנֵּ֥ה לֹֽא־הֻגַּד־לִ֖י הַחֵ֑צִי הוֹסַ֤פְתָּ חָכְמָה֙ וָט֔וֹב אֶל־הַשְּׁמוּעָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃

אַשְׁרֵ֣י אֲנָשֶׁ֔יךָ אַשְׁרֵ֖י עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ אֵ֑לֶּה הָֽעֹמְדִ֤ים לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙ תָּמִ֔יד הַשֹּׁמְעִ֖ים אֶת־חָכְמָתֶֽךָ׃

יְהִ֨י יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙ בָּר֔וּךְ אֲשֶׁר֙ חָפֵ֣ץ בְּךָ֔ לְתִתְּךָ֖ עַל־כִּסֵּ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בְּאַהֲבַ֨ת יְהוָ֤ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְעֹלָ֔ם וַיְשִֽׂימְךָ֣ לְמֶ֔לֶךְ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וּצְדָקָֽה׃

וַתִּתֵּ֨ן לַמֶּ֜לֶךְ מֵאָ֥ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֣ים ׀ כִּכַּ֣ר זָהָ֗ב וּבְשָׂמִ֛ים הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹ֖ד וְאֶ֣בֶן יְקָרָ֑ה לֹא־בָא֩ כַבֹּ֨שֶׂם הַה֥וּא עוֹד֙ לָרֹ֔ב אֲשֶׁר־נָתְנָ֥ה מַֽלְכַּת־שְׁבָ֖א לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

וְגַם֙ אֳנִ֣י חִירָ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־נָשָׂ֥א זָהָ֖ב מֵאוֹפִ֑יר הֵבִ֨יא מֵאֹפִ֜יר עֲצֵ֧י אַלְמֻגִּ֛ים הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹ֖ד וְאֶ֥בֶן יְקָרָֽה׃

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ אֶת־עֲצֵ֨י הָאַלְמֻגִּ֜ים מִסְעָ֤ד לְבֵית־יְהוָה֙ וּלְבֵ֣ית הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְכִנֹּר֥וֹת וּנְבָלִ֖ים לַשָּׁרִ֑ים לֹ֣א בָֽא־כֵ֞ן עֲצֵ֤י אַלְמֻגִּים֙ וְלֹ֣א נִרְאָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

וְהַמֶּ֨לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה נָתַ֣ן לְמַֽלְכַּת־שְׁבָ֗א אֶת־כָּל־חֶפְצָהּ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁאָ֔לָה מִלְּבַד֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָֽתַן־לָ֔הּ כְּיַ֖ד הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַתֵּ֛פֶן וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ לְאַרְצָ֖הּ הִ֥יא וַעֲבָדֶֽיהָ׃

כִּי֩ אֳנִ֨י תַרְשִׁ֤ישׁ לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ בַּיָּ֔ם עִ֖ם אֳנִ֣י חִירָ֑ם אַחַת֩ לְשָׁלֹ֨שׁ שָׁנִ֜ים תָּב֣וֹא ׀ אֳנִ֣י תַרְשִׁ֗ישׁ נֹֽשְׂאֵת֙ זָהָ֣ב וָכֶ֔סֶף שֶׁנְהַבִּ֥ים וְקֹפִ֖ים וְתֻכִּיִּֽים׃

he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three minas of gold went to one shield: and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with the finest gold.

There were six steps to the throne, and the top of the throne was round behind; and there were stays on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the stays.

Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps: there was nothing like it made in any kingdom.

All king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram: once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.

All the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

They brought every man his tribute, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and clothing, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

The king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

The horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; and the king's merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.

A chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty; and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, they brought them out by their means.
