LES FAUX DOCTEURS

Chapitre 2.

1 à 13 Les ravages que feront les faux docteurs. Leur châtiment prouvé par des exemples.

A côté des hommes de Dieu, qui parlaient poussés par son Esprit, (2Pierre 1.21) il y eut toujours dans le peuple d'Israël de faux prophètes ; les chrétiens ne devaient donc pas s'étonner, mais être sur leurs gardes, si, au milieu d'eux, s'élevaient de faux docteurs.

Notre auteur, comme Paul dans ses épîtres pastorales (voir surtout 1Timothée 4.1 et suivants), et Jean, dans sa première lettre, signale à ses lecteurs le danger dont ils étaient menacés par ces hommes, et dénonce de sévères jugements de Dieu sur ceux qui entraînaient les âmes dans de pernicieuses erreurs.

Grec : Hérésies de perdition, qui conduisent les Eglises et les âmes à la ruine.

Le mot hérésie est employé dans 1Corinthiens 11.19 ; Galates 5.20, et souvent dans les Actes, avec le sens de division, séparation, secte. Mais le verbe introduire furtivement, et la caractéristique que l'auteur donne de ces manifestations montrent qu'il a en vue des hérésies, et non de simples divisions.

Renier le Maître (Jude 4) est surtout criminel de la part de ceux qui savent qu'il les a rachetés au prix de son sang. (1Corinthiens 6.20,7.23 ; Apocalypse 5.9)

Ce reniement soit par la doctrine, soit par les œuvres, est le trait caractéristique de l'hérésie de perdition, qui attire sur ceux qui la suivent une soudaine perdition ; car là où le Sauveur est rejeté il n'y a plus pour l'homme pécheur aucun espoir de salut, d'autant moins qu'il ajoute à ses péchés le plus grave de tous, qui est ce reniement même. (Comparer 1Jean 2.23 ; 4.2 ; 5.12 ; 2Jean,7,9)

Bien que l’on puisse se « blesser » en empruntant le chemin de « l'erreur », nombreux sont ceux qui sont prêts à le prendre. Ayons bien soin de ne pas donner à l'ennemi, l'occasion de blasphémer le saint Nom par lequel nous sommes appelés, ni de tenir de mauvais propos quant au chemin du salut ouvert par Jésus-Christ, Celui qui est le Chemin, la Vérité, et la Vie.

Les séducteurs mentionnés dans ce texte, répandaient de fausses doctrines, ils trompaient le cœur de leurs partisans : en réalité, ces personnes sont déjà condamnées, et le courroux de Dieu demeure sur elles...

La manière habituelle, employée par Dieu pour corriger de telles déviations, est révélée dans ce texte par quelques exemples. Certains anges ont été privés de toute leur gloire et de leur dignité, à cause de leur désobéissance... Si des créatures pèchent, même dans le ciel, elles doivent souffrir en enfer. Le péché est l'œuvre des ténèbres, et ces dernières en sont le salaire.

Remarquez comment Dieu a agi avec le monde de l’Ancien Testament : le nombre des offenseurs, leur titre ou leur qualité n’ont aucunement modifié leur châtiment. Si le péché est universel, la condamnation le sera également. Si, sur un sol fructueux, le peuple abonde dans le péché, Dieu peut immédiatement transformer une terre fertile en parcelle stérile, et réduire en cendres un pays prospère.

Aucun plan, aucune politique, ne peuvent écarter un peuple coupable, des Jugements divins. Celui qui empêche le feu et l'eau de nuire à Son peuple, Esa 43:2, peut de la même manière détruire ses ennemis ; à ce moment, ces derniers ne connaissent plus la sécurité. Quand Dieu envoie Sa destruction sur l'impie, Il ordonne la délivrance du juste !

Quand nous fréquentons de mauvaises compagnies, nous éprouvons simultanément des sentiments de honte et de tristesse, comprenant que les les péchés des autres peuvent véritablement nous éprouver. Il est cependant possible pour les enfants de Dieu, vivant parmi les plus profanes, de garder leur intégrité ; les hommes pieux demeurent plus forts en la Grâce de Christ, que sous les tentations de Satan, ou les déviations des impies, avec toutes leurs craintes et diverses séductions.

Dans nos tendances et incitations à commettre le péché, nous rencontrons des « freins », qui peuvent paraître étranges, si nous y portons attention : quand nous nous apprêtons à céder au péché, Dieu envoie de multiples obstacles pour nous entraver, comme pour dire : « prends garde à ce que tu vas faire ». Sa Sagesse et Sa Puissance accompliront sûrement les desseins de Son Amour, et les engagements de Sa Vérité ; bien que les impies puissent échapper souvent à la souffrance ici-bas, ils sont néanmoins gardés pour le jour du Jugement et seront punis, avec le diable et ses anges...
