Son nom (Sin., D, A, versions) ; le texte reçu porte : le nom du Seigneur.

Il s'agit du Seigneur Jésus : l'invocation de son nom est partout enseignée dans le Nouveau Testament. (Actes 9.14,21 ; 1Corinthiens 1.2)

Invoquer ce nom, c'est tout ce qu'on exigeait de celui qui se faisait baptiser.

L'effet du baptême dans les croyants est ici exprimé par ce mot énergique : se faire laver de ses péchés. 3.5
