Actes 9.36

Ἐν Ἰόππῃ δέ τις ἦν μαθήτρια ὀνόματι Ταβιθά, ἣ διερμηνευομένη λέγεται Δορκάς· αὕτη ἦν πλήρης ἔργων ἀγαθῶν καὶ ἐλεημοσυνῶν ὧν ἐποίει.
Beaucoup de personnes éloquentes, sont cependant « vides » et « stériles » quant à la pratique des bonnes œuvres ; ce n’était pas le cas de Tabitha, qui était dévouée au service des autres, non seulement en paroles, mais aussi en actes !

Les chrétiens qui n'ont pas les moyens financiers de donner par charité peuvent toujours être capables d’œuvrer pour le Seigneur, travaillant de leurs mains, agissant pour le bien des autres.

Ceux qui sont dignes des meilleures louanges sont certainement ceux qui « témoignent » par leurs œuvres, quels que soient les commentaires éventuels de leur entourage. Quelle ingratitude que de bénéficier de la bonté des autres, sans vouloir le reconnaître !

Alors que nous vivons dans la plénitude de Christ, avec l’espoir du salut qu’Il nous a offert, cherchons à pratiquer de bonnes œuvres, pour l'honneur de Son Nom, et pour le bonheur de Ses saints !

Des exemples comme celui de Dorcas sont utiles, là où ils se trouvent, car ils témoignent de l'excellence de la Parole de Vérité. Quelle méprise pour ces nombreuses femmes, qui ne cherchent pas la « distinction spirituelle », mais plutôt l’apparat extérieur, « gaspillant » leur vie dans les vaines poursuites de la mode et de la vanité !

La puissance de la résurrection de cette femme venait de la Parole. Lorsqu’une âme « revient » à la vie spirituelle, le premier signe que l’on remarque est l'ouverture de ses « yeux ». Nous voyons dans ce texte que le Seigneur peut nous rendre ce que nous avons perdu ; Il est tout à fait capable de faire concourir chaque événement, pour le bien de ceux qui Lui font confiance et pour la gloire de Son Nom !
