Béthel, Guilgal : voir 4.4, note.

Béerséba. Ce nom étonne en cet endroit, car Béerséba appartenait au royaume de Juda (Josué 15.28). Elle était située à l'extrémité méridionale de cet Etat, sur les confins du désert d'Arabie. Il est probable qu'il y avait là un sanctuaire pour un culte semi-idolâtre, comme à Béthel et à Guilgal. De même que Béthel, Béerséba était un lieu célèbre par les souvenirs de l'histoire patriarcale (Genèse 21.31 ; 26.23-24 ; 46.1-2). Peut-être les habitants des dix tribus se rendaient-ils parfois aux fêtes célébrées en ce lieu

Guilgal sera déporté ; en hébreu : galo jiglé ; assonnance.

Béthel... néant : allusion au nom de Beth-Aven (maison de néant) que les prophètes substituent parfois à celui de Béthel (maison de Dieu). Comparez Osée 4.15 ; 10.5, et particulièrement Osée 10.8. Béerséba n'est plus mentionnée ici, parce qu'il s'agit de la menace qui ne concerne que le royaume des dix tribus.
