Moïse prononça une bénédiction solennelle, pour clore L'énoncé de tous les préceptes, avertissements et prophéties préalablement donnés. Le patriarche, tout en donnant la loi, a décrit l'apparence glorieuse de Dieu. Les directives de l'Éternel sont comme le feu : si elles sont acceptées, elles réchauffent l'âme, fondent, purifient et brûlent toutes traces de corruption ; si elles sont rejetées, elles endurcissent le cœur, procurent la souffrance et amènent à la destruction finale.

Le Saint-Esprit vint ici-bas sous la forme de langues de feu ; l'évangile est aussi une « loi brûlante ». La loi de Dieu, écrite dans les cœurs, est en quelque sorte, une preuve de l'amour divin, répandu ici-bas : nous devons reconnaître la loi de l'Éternel, comme l'un des dons de Sa Grâce !
