Le contenu en est à peu près le même que celui des prophéties des chapitres 29 à 33 qui appartiennent à la même période. Esaïe s'adresse d'abord aux Assyriens et les menace du châtiment que leur insolence a mérité (versets 22 à 29), puis il se tourne vers Ezéchias et son peuple pour les consoler par la promesse d'une délivrance prochaine (versets 30 à 35). Jamais prophète, a-t-on dit de ce discours, ne promit avec plus de hardiesse, et jamais promesse ne s'accomplit d'une manière plus éclatante.
