World English Bible "For I know their works and their thoughts: the time comes, that I will gather all nations and languages; and they shall come, and shall see my glory.

Il est nécessaire de suppléer une idée au commencement du verset : Mais moi... [je vais juger, ou je connais]...leurs œuvres. L'émotion de l'auteur, en présence du terrible spectacle du jugement, explique l'omission du verbe ; et les deux termes qui se heurtent : moi...leurs œuvres... ! sont d'un effet saisissant.

Rassembler toutes les nations: Dieu rassemble des gens de toute nation, afin d'accomplir son jugement (versets 15 et 16) et de faire éclater ainsi sa gloire au milieu d'elles. Le prophète a devant les yeux le tableau de Joël 3.2,9-17). Zacharie 14.12-14 développe à son tour ces tableaux de Joël et d'Esaïe et dit expressément que les nations s'assemblent pour combattre contre Jérusalem : elles préparent ainsi elles-mêmes l'accomplissement du dessein de Dieu, qui est de les frapper sous les murs de la ville sainte (voir au verset 24 et Apocalypse 20.8-9). Comparez aussi 29.5-7 ; Ezéchiel 38.1-22.
