Il ne peut être question ici, après Darius, que d'Artaxerxès I Longuemain, qui succéda à Xerxès, successeur de Darius, fils d'Hystaspe. Mais Artaxerxès I n'arriva au pouvoir qu'environ 50 ans après l'achèvement du temple, et c'est la septième année de son règne qu'il donna son édit en faveur de Jérusalem (chapitre 7). Nous avons donc ici une adjonction postérieure et un anachronisme d'au moins 57 ans, comme on peut s'en convaincre par les dates suivantes : Darius, 524-485Xerxès, 485-465Artaxerxès, 465-425. Pour Darius cela fait donc 36 ans, moins les six premières années de son règne, à savoir 30 ; pour Xerxès 20, et pour Artaxerxès 7 ; ensemble 57 ans. On aura voulu faire figurer, à la suite de Cyrus et de Darius, le nom du troisième bienfaiteur des Juifs (7.11-24), absolument comme, dans 4.6-23, un copiste postérieur a complété la liste des démarches malveillantes faites par les Samaritains auprès des rois de Perse.L'attitude hostile d'Artaxerxès au chapitre 4 et son édit favorable aux Juifs au chapitre 7 se concilient sans peine, si l'on considère que les faits du chapitre 7 sont antérieurs à ceux du chapitre 4, et que dans l'intervalle il a été influencé par les ennemis du peuple de Dieu. Il ne peut être question ici, après Darius, que d'Artaxerxès I Longuemain, qui succéda à Xerxès, successeur de Darius, fils d'Hystaspe. Mais Artaxerxès I n'arriva au pouvoir qu'environ 50 ans après l'achèvement du temple, et c'est la septième année de son règne qu'il donna son édit en faveur de Jérusalem (chapitre 7). Nous avons donc ici une adjonction postérieure et un anachronisme d'au moins 57 ans, comme on peut s'en convaincre par les dates suivantes : Darius, 524-485Xerxès, 485-465Artaxerxès, 465-425. Pour Darius cela fait donc 36 ans, moins les six premières années de son règne, à savoir 30 ; pour Xerxès 20, et pour Artaxerxès 7 ; ensemble 57 ans. On aura voulu faire figurer, à la suite de Cyrus et de Darius, le nom du troisième bienfaiteur des Juifs (7.11-24), absolument comme, dans 4.6-23, un copiste postérieur a complété la liste des démarches malveillantes faites par les Samaritains auprès des rois de Perse.L'attitude hostile d'Artaxerxès au chapitre 4 et son édit favorable aux Juifs au chapitre 7 se concilient sans peine, si l'on considère que les faits du chapitre 7 sont antérieurs à ceux du chapitre 4, et que dans l'intervalle il a été influencé par les ennemis du peuple de Dieu. Il ne peut être question ici, après Darius, que d'Artaxerxès I Longuemain, qui succéda à Xerxès, successeur de Darius, fils d'Hystaspe. Mais Artaxerxès I n'arriva au pouvoir qu'environ 50 ans après l'achèvement du temple, et c'est la septième année de son règne qu'il donna son édit en faveur de Jérusalem (chapitre 7). Nous avons donc ici une adjonction postérieure et un anachronisme d'au moins 57 ans, comme on peut s'en convaincre par les dates suivantes : Darius, 524-485Xerxès, 485-465Artaxerxès, 465-425. Pour Darius cela fait donc 36 ans, moins les six premières années de son règne, à savoir 30 ; pour Xerxès 20, et pour Artaxerxès 7 ; ensemble 57 ans. On aura voulu faire figurer, à la suite de Cyrus et de Darius, le nom du troisième bienfaiteur des Juifs (7.11-24), absolument comme, dans 4.6-23, un copiste postérieur a complété la liste des démarches malveillantes faites par les Samaritains auprès des rois de Perse.L'attitude hostile d'Artaxerxès au chapitre 4 et son édit favorable aux Juifs au chapitre 7 se concilient sans peine, si l'on considère que les faits du chapitre 7 sont antérieurs à ceux du chapitre 4, et que dans l'intervalle il a été influencé par les ennemis du peuple de Dieu. Il ne peut être question ici, après Darius, que d'Artaxerxès I Longuemain, qui succéda à Xerxès, successeur de Darius, fils d'Hystaspe. Mais Artaxerxès I n'arriva au pouvoir qu'environ 50 ans après l'achèvement du temple, et c'est la septième année de son règne qu'il donna son édit en faveur de Jérusalem (chapitre 7). Nous avons donc ici une adjonction postérieure et un anachronisme d'au moins 57 ans, comme on peut s'en convaincre par les dates suivantes : Darius, 524-485Xerxès, 485-465Artaxerxès, 465-425. Pour Darius cela fait donc 36 ans, moins les six premières années de son règne, à savoir 30 ; pour Xerxès 20, et pour Artaxerxès 7 ; ensemble 57 ans. On aura voulu faire figurer, à la suite de Cyrus et de Darius, le nom du troisième bienfaiteur des Juifs (7.11-24), absolument comme, dans 4.6-23, un copiste postérieur a complété la liste des démarches malveillantes faites par les Samaritains auprès des rois de Perse.L'attitude hostile d'Artaxerxès au chapitre 4 et son édit favorable aux Juifs au chapitre 7 se concilient sans peine, si l'on considère que les faits du chapitre 7 sont antérieurs à ceux du chapitre 4, et que dans l'intervalle il a été influencé par les ennemis du peuple de Dieu. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with all diligence. 13 Then Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and their companions, because Darius the king had sent a decree, did accordingly with all diligence. 14 The elders of the Jews built and prospered, through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the decree of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified," says Yahweh. 12 Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Yahweh, their God , and the words of Haggai, the prophet, as Yahweh, their God, had sent him; and the people feared Yahweh. 13 Then Haggai, Yahweh's messenger, spoke Yahweh's message to the people, saying, "I am with you," says Yahweh. 14 Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of Yahweh of Armies, their God, Aggée 2 2 "Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying, 3 'Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn't it in your eyes as nothing? 4 Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,' says Yahweh. 'Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,' says Yahweh, 'and work, for I am with you,' says Yahweh of Armies. 5 This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you. 'Don't be afraid.' 6 For this is what Yahweh of Armies says: 'Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land; 7 and I will shake all nations. The precious things of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,' says Yahweh of Armies. 9 'The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,' says Yahweh of Armies; 'and in this place will I give peace,' says Yahweh of Armies." 10 In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the Word of Yahweh came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 11 "Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying, 12 'If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?'" The priests answered, "No." 13 Then Haggai said, "If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?" The priests answered, "It will be unclean." 14 Then Haggai answered, "'So is this people, and so is this nation before me,' says Yahweh; 'and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean. 15 Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh's temple. Zacharie 2 1 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 Then I asked, "Where are you going?" He said to me, "To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length." 3 Behold, the angel who talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him, 4 and said to him, "Run, speak to this young man, saying, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited as villages without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. Zacharie 4 9 "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house. His hands shall also finish it; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you. Zacharie 6 1 Again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. 2 In the first chariot were red horses; in the second chariot black horses; 3 in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot dappled horses, all of them powerful. 4 Then I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?" 5 The angel answered me, "These are the four winds of the sky, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth. 6 The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the dappled went forth toward the south country." 7 The strong went out, and sought to go that they might walk back and forth through the earth: and he said, "Go around and through the earth!" So they walked back and forth through the earth. 8 Then he called to me, and spoke to me, saying, "Behold, those who go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country." 9 The word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 10 "Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah; and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon. 11 Yes, take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them on the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest; 12 and speak to him, saying, 'Thus says Yahweh of Armies, "Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build Yahweh's temple; 13 even he shall build Yahweh's temple; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on his throne; and he shall be a priest on his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. 14 The crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in Yahweh's temple. 15 Those who are far off shall come and build in Yahweh's temple; and you shall know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you. This will happen, if you will diligently obey the voice of Yahweh your God ."'"
