Les sacrificateurs. Ce terme ne désigne point encore les fils d'Aaron, à moins que l'on ne veuille imputer au narrateur un grossier anachronisme. Déjà en Egypte il avait été dit (10.24-26 et ailleurs) que le peuple devait offrir un sacrifice dans le désert. Pour cela il fallait des hommes chargés d'officier dans ce grand acte de culte national. Ils pouvaient avoir été choisis parmi les premiers-nés ; comparez 24.5, où ils sont appelés les jeunes gens des fils d'Israël.

Se sanctifient : en se tenant eux-mêmes éloignés de la montagne sainte et ne provoquant point la colère de Dieu.
