C'est un sacrilège... Les Hébreux couraient le risque d'offenser les Egyptiens en sacrifiant quelque animal représentant une de leurs divinités, ainsi le taureau, symbole d'Amon, le grand dieu de Thèbes, ou le bœuf, révéré comme symbole d'Osiris à Héliopolis, ou la vache, représentant la déesse Isis.
