Ezéchiel 16

- Jérusalem était une enfant abandonnée
  
  1 Le SEIGNEUR m’a adressé sa parole. Il m’a dit :
  
  2 « Toi, l’homme, montre à Jérusalem les actions horribles qu’elle a commises.
  
  3 Tu lui diras : Voici les paroles du Seigneur DIEU pour Jérusalem : Le pays de tes ancêtres, c’est Canaan, et tu es née là-bas. Ton père était un Amorite et ta mère une Hittite.
  
  4 Le jour où tu es née, personne n’a coupé ton cordon. On ne t’a pas lavée dans l’eau pour te rendre pure. On ne t’a pas frottée avec du sel, on ne t’a pas enveloppée dans un pagne.
  
  5 Personne ne t’a regardée avec bonté pour te donner tous ces soins, personne n’a eu pitié de toi. Au contraire, on t’a jetée par terre le jour de ta naissance parce qu’on avait du dégoût pour toi.
  
  6 Je suis passé près de toi, Jérusalem, je t’ai vue en train de t’agiter dans ton sang. Malgré le sang qui te couvrait, je t’ai dit de vivre ! Oui, je t’ai dit de vivre !
  
  7 Je t’ai fait grandir comme une plante des champs. Tu as poussé, tu t’es développée et tu es devenue la plus belle de toutes. Tes seins se sont formés et tes poils ont poussé. Mais tu étais complètement nue.
  
  8 Plus tard, je suis passé de nouveau près de toi, Jérusalem. Je t’ai regardée et j’ai vu que c’était pour toi le moment d’aimer. Alors j’ai étendu mon vêtement sur toi pour te couvrir, parce que tu étais nue. J’ai juré de te rester fidèle et j’ai fait alliance avec toi. Alors tu as été à moi, je le déclare, moi, le Seigneur DIEU.
  
  9 « Je t’ai lavée dans l’eau, Jérusalem, j’ai nettoyé le sang qui était sur toi, je t’ai frottée avec de l’huile parfumée.
  
  10 Je t’ai donné des habits brodés et des sandales de cuir fin. Je t’ai mis une ceinture de lin et je t’ai couverte de soie.
  
  11 Je t’ai ornée de bijoux, j’ai mis des bracelets à tes poignets et un collier à ton cou.
  
  12 J’ai placé un anneau à ton nez, des boucles à tes oreilles et une très belle couronne sur ta tête.
  
  13 Tes bijoux étaient en or et en argent, tes vêtements en lin, en soie et en tissu brodé. Pour te nourrir, tu prenais la farine la meilleure, du miel et de l’huile d’olive. Alors tu es devenue très très belle, digne d’être reine.
  
  14 À cause de ta beauté, Jérusalem, on parlait de toi dans le monde entier. En effet, tu étais d’une beauté parfaite, parce que je t’avais ornée de gloire, je le déclare, moi, le Seigneur DIEU. »
  
  Jérusalem s'est prostituée
  
  15 « Mais tu as compté sur ta beauté, Jérusalem. Parce qu’on te connaissait partout, tu t’es prostituée. Tu as couché avec tous les hommes qui passaient, tu leur appartenais.
  
  16 Pour décorer les lieux sacrés, tu as pris certains de tes beaux pagnes colorés et tu t’es prostituée dessus. Cela ne s’était jamais fait et cela ne se fera plus jamais.
  
  17 Tu as pris les bijoux en or et en argent que je t’avais donnés pour fabriquer des faux dieux de sexe masculin. Puis tu t’es prostituée avec eux.
  
  18 Tu les as couverts de tes vêtements brodés, tu leur as offert mon huile et mon encens.
  
  19 Pour leur plaire, tu leur as offert en sacrifice toute la nourriture que je t’avais donnée : la meilleure farine, l’huile et le miel. Voilà ce qui est arrivé, moi, le Seigneur DIEU, je le déclare.
  
  20 Jérusalem, tu as pris les fils et les filles que tu m’avais donnés, et tu les as offerts en sacrifice aux faux dieux comme nourriture ! Ta vie de prostituée n’était donc pas suffisante ?
  
  21 Tu a tué mes enfants et tu les as fait brûler pour tes faux dieux !
  
  22 Quand tu commettais ces actions horribles, Jérusalem, quand tu te prostituais de cette façon, tu ne t’es pas souvenue de ta jeunesse. Tu as oublié le temps où tu étais complètement nue, quand tu t’agitais dans ton sang.
  
  23 « Après tout le mal que tu as fait, te voilà malheureuse. Oui, quel malheur pour toi ! Moi, le Seigneur DIEU, je le déclare.
  
  24 Pourtant, tu as continué en te faisant des petites buttes, des endroits élevés sur toutes les places.
  
  25 Au début de chaque rue, tu t’es fait une petite butte et là, tu as utilisé ta beauté pour des actions horribles. Tu t’es offerte à tous ceux qui passaient, et tu t’es prostituée de plus en plus.
  
  26 Jérusalem, tu t’es prostituée avec les Égyptiens, tes voisins au corps magnifique, et tu en as fait toujours davantage pour me mettre en colère.
  
  27 Alors je t’ai fait sentir ma puissance : je t’ai enlevé une partie de tes ressources. Je t’ai livrée à l’appétit de tes ennemies, les villes des Philistins qui avaient honte de ta conduite horrible.
  
  28 Mais tes désirs n’étaient pas satisfaits, alors tu t’es prostituée avec les Assyriens. Pourtant, tu n’étais pas encore rassasiée.
  
  29 Tu as continué à te prostituer dans un pays de commerçants, celui des Babyloniens. Même avec ces gens-là, tu n’étais pas encore rassasiée.
  
  30 Ah ! Tu es vraiment lâche, Jérusalem, je le déclare, moi, le Seigneur DIEU. En faisant tout cela, tu as agi comme la pire des prostituées.
  
  31 Au début de chaque rue, tu t’es fait une petite butte. Tu as bâti des hauts-lieux sur toutes les places. Pourtant, tu n’as pas demandé d’argent comme les autres prostituées.
  
  32 Mais tu as été comme la femme adultère qui préfère des étrangers à son mari.
  
  33 Toutes les prostituées reçoivent de l’argent, mais toi, tu as offert des cadeaux à tous tes amants. Tu les as payés pour qu’ils viennent de partout coucher avec toi.
  
  34 En te prostituant de cette façon, tu as fait le contraire des autres prostituées. On ne te cherchait pas, on ne te payait pas, mais c’est toi qui donnais de l’argent. Tu as vraiment fait le contraire des autres !
  
  35 « Eh bien, Jérusalem, toi qui te prostitues, écoute la parole du SEIGNEUR.
  
  36 Voici ce que j’ai à te dire, moi, le Seigneur DIEU : Tu t’es montrée toute nue, tu as fait voir toutes les parties de ton corps en te prostituant avec tes amants et avec tes faux dieux horribles. Tu as même versé le sang de tes enfants en les offrant à tes dieux.
  
  37 C’est pourquoi je vais rassembler tous les amants à qui tu as plu, tous ceux que tu as aimés et tous ceux que tu as détestés. Je les rassemblerai de partout contre toi, j’enlèverai tes vêtements devant eux, et ils te verront toute nue.
  
  38 Jérusalem, je te condamnerai comme on condamne les femmes adultères et celles qui tuent les gens. Je te couvrirai de sang à cause de ma colère et de ma jalousie.
  
  39 Je te livrerai au pouvoir de tes amants. Ils écraseront tes buttes, ils détruiront tes hauts-lieux. Ils t’enlèveront tes vêtements, ils te prendront tes beaux bijoux et ils t’abandonneront toute nue.
  
  40 Ensuite, ils exciteront la foule contre toi. Ils te tueront à coups de pierres, ils te déchireront à coups d’épée,
  
  41 ils mettront le feu à tes maisons. Ils appliqueront ainsi le jugement qui te condamne sous les yeux d’une foule de femmes. Je mettrai fin à ta vie de prostituée, et tu ne pourras plus payer tes amants.
  
  42 Jusqu’au bout, je laisserai agir ma violente colère contre toi. Ensuite, quand je n’aurai plus de raison d’être jaloux, je serai calme de nouveau, je ne serai plus en colère.
  
  43 Jérusalem, tu ne t’es pas souvenue de ce que j’ai fait pour toi dans ta jeunesse. Tu m’as provoqué par tes actes. Eh bien, moi, à mon tour, je te ferai payer ta conduite, je le déclare, moi, le Seigneur DIEU. En effet, tu as eu une conduite honteuse, en plus de toutes tes actions horribles avec les faux dieux. »
  
  Jérusalem est pire que les autres villes
  
  44 Le SEIGNEUR a dit encore : « Jérusalem, ceux qui font les proverbes diront à ton sujet : “Telle mère, telle fille !”
  
  45 Oui, tu es bien la fille de ta mère, elle qui a détesté son mari et ses enfants. Tu es semblable à tes sœurs, qui ont détesté leurs maris et leurs enfants. Votre mère était hittite et votre père était amorite.
  
  46 Ta grande sœur, c’est Samarie, au nord, avec les petites villes voisines. Ta petite sœur, c’est Sodome, au sud, avec les petites villes voisines.
  
  47 Tu n’as pas seulement imité leur conduite, tu n’as pas seulement commis les mêmes actions horribles, c’était trop peu ! Ta conduite a été bien pire que celle des autres villes.
  
  48 Aussi vrai que je suis vivant, moi, le Seigneur DIEU, voici ce que je te déclare, Jérusalem : Sodome, ta sœur, et les petites villes voisines, n’ont pas fait autant de mal que toi, et les petites villes autour de toi.
  
  49 Voici les fautes de Sodome et de ses voisines : elles étaient orgueilleuses, elles mangeaient beaucoup trop, elles ne se faisaient pas de souci, elles n’ont pas aidé les pauvres ni les malheureux.
  
  50 Elles sont devenues méprisantes et ont commis des actes horribles. Alors je les ai fait disparaître, comme tu le sais.
  
  51 Samarie, elle, n’a pas fait la moitié du mal que tu as fait. Toi, Jérusalem, tu as commis beaucoup plus d’actes horribles qu’elle. Sodome et Samarie, tes sœurs, ont l’air innocentes, quand on les compare à toi.
  
  52 Eh bien, maintenant, à ton tour, supporte la perte de ton honneur à cause de tes fautes. Oui, tu as commis des actes pires que tes sœurs. Ainsi, elles apparaissent plus justes que toi, et on leur trouve des excuses. À ton tour, tu seras donc couverte de honte et tu souffriras d’avoir perdu ton honneur.
  
  53 Je rendrai leur ancienne situation à ces villes : je changerai la situation de Sodome et des villes voisines, celle de Samarie et des villes voisines. Ensuite, je te rendrai aussi ton ancienne situation, Jérusalem.
  
  54 Alors tu souffriras d’avoir perdu ton honneur, tu auras honte de tout ce que tu as fait : cela consolera ces villes.
  
  55 Sodome, Samarie et les villes voisines retrouveront leur ancienne situation. Ce sera pareil pour toi, Jérusalem, et pour les villes voisines.
  
  56 À l’époque où tu te vantais, tu disais du mal de Sodome.
  
  57 C’était avant qu’on découvre ta méchanceté. Maintenant, c’est ton tour d’être insultée par les villes d’Édom et leurs villes voisines, ainsi que par les villes des Philistins. De tous côtés, en effet, celles-ci disent qu’elles te méprisent.
  
  58 Par là, tu supportes les conséquences des actes honteux et horribles que tu as commis. Moi, le SEIGNEUR, je le déclare.
  
  59 « Voici ce que je dis, moi, le Seigneur DIEU : Tu t’es moquée de ton serment en brisant mon alliance avec toi. C’est pourquoi j’agirai avec toi, Jérusalem, comme tu as agi avec moi.
  
  60 Mais moi, je me souviendrai de l’alliance que j’ai faite avec toi quand tu étais jeune. J’établirai cette alliance avec toi pour toujours.
  
  61 Tu réfléchiras à ta conduite et tu auras honte quand tu recevras tes grandes sœurs et tes petites sœurs. Je les mettrai sous ton pouvoir, comme si elles étaient tes filles. Pourtant, ceci n’entre pas dans l’alliance que j’ai faite avec toi.
  
  62 Jérusalem, je ferai une alliance avec toi. Alors tu sauras que le SEIGNEUR, c’est moi.
  
  63 Alors tu te souviendras du passé, tu seras couverte de honte et tu n’ouvriras plus la bouche, parce que tu as perdu ton honneur. Mais moi, je te pardonnerai tout ce que tu as fait. » Voilà ce que le Seigneur DIEU déclare.

  2 בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם הוֹדַ֥ע אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם אֶת־תּוֹעֲבֹתֶֽיהָ׃
  
  3 וְאָמַרְתָּ֞ כֹּה־אָמַ֨ר אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהוִה֙ לִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם מְכֹרֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ וּמֹ֣לְדֹתַ֔יִךְ מֵאֶ֖רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑י אָבִ֥יךְ הָאֱמֹרִ֖י וְאִמֵּ֥ךְ חִתִּֽית׃
  
  4 וּמוֹלְדוֹתַ֗יִךְ בְּי֨וֹם הוּלֶּ֤דֶת אֹתָךְ֙ לֹֽא־כָרַּ֣ת שָׁרֵּ֔ךְ וּבְמַ֥יִם לֹֽא־רֻחַ֖צְתְּ לְמִשְׁעִ֑י וְהָמְלֵ֙חַ֙ לֹ֣א הֻמְלַ֔חַתְּ וְהָחְתֵּ֖ל לֹ֥א חֻתָּֽלְתְּ׃
  
  5 לֹא־חָ֨סָה עָלַ֜יִךְ עַ֗יִן לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לָ֛ךְ אַחַ֥ת מֵאֵ֖לֶּה לְחֻמְלָ֣ה עָלָ֑יִךְ וַֽתֻּשְׁלְכִ֞י אֶל־פְּנֵ֤י הַשָּׂדֶה֙ בְּגֹ֣עַל נַפְשֵׁ֔ךְ בְּי֖וֹם הֻלֶּ֥דֶת אֹתָֽךְ׃
  
  6 וָאֶעֱבֹ֤ר עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ וָֽאֶרְאֵ֔ךְ מִתְבּוֹסֶ֖סֶת בְּדָמָ֑יִךְ וָאֹ֤מַר לָךְ֙ בְּדָמַ֣יִךְ חֲיִ֔י וָאֹ֥מַר לָ֖ךְ בְּדָמַ֥יִךְ חֲיִֽי׃
  
  7 רְבָבָ֗ה כְּצֶ֤מַח הַשָּׂדֶה֙ נְתַתִּ֔יךְ וַתִּרְבִּי֙ וַֽתִּגְדְּלִ֔י וַתָּבֹ֖אִי בַּעֲדִ֣י עֲדָיִ֑ים שָׁדַ֤יִם נָכֹ֙נוּ֙ וּשְׂעָרֵ֣ךְ צִמֵּ֔חַ וְאַ֖תְּ עֵרֹ֥ם וְעֶרְיָֽה׃
  
  8 וָאֶעֱבֹ֨ר עָלַ֜יִךְ וָאֶרְאֵ֗ךְ וְהִנֵּ֤ה עִתֵּךְ֙ עֵ֣ת דֹּדִ֔ים וָאֶפְרֹ֤שׂ כְּנָפִי֙ עָלַ֔יִךְ וָאֲכַסֶּ֖ה עֶרְוָתֵ֑ךְ וָאֶשָּׁ֣בַֽע לָ֠ךְ וָאָב֨וֹא בִבְרִ֜ית אֹתָ֗ךְ נְאֻ֛ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִ֖ה וַתִּ֥הְיִי לִֽי׃
  
  9 וָאֶרְחָצֵ֣ךְ בַּמַּ֔יִם וָאֶשְׁטֹ֥ף דָּמַ֖יִךְ מֵֽעָלָ֑יִךְ וָאֲסֻכֵ֖ךְ בַּשָּֽׁמֶן׃
  
  10 וָאַלְבִּישֵׁ֣ךְ רִקְמָ֔ה וָאֶנְעֲלֵ֖ךְ תָּ֑חַשׁ וָאֶחְבְּשֵׁ֣ךְ בַּשֵּׁ֔שׁ וַאֲכַסֵּ֖ךְ מֶֽשִׁי׃
  
  11 וָאֶעְדֵּ֖ךְ עֶ֑דִי וָאֶתְּנָ֤ה צְמִידִים֙ עַל־יָדַ֔יִךְ וְרָבִ֖יד עַל־גְּרוֹנֵֽךְ׃
  
  12 וָאֶתֵּ֥ן נֶ֙זֶם֙ עַל־אַפֵּ֔ךְ וַעֲגִילִ֖ים עַל־אָזְנָ֑יִךְ וַעֲטֶ֥רֶת תִּפְאֶ֖רֶת בְּרֹאשֵֽׁךְ׃
  
  13 וַתַּעְדִּ֞י זָהָ֣ב וָכֶ֗סֶף וּמַלְבּוּשֵׁךְ֙ *ששי **שֵׁ֤שׁ וָמֶ֙שִׁי֙ וְרִקְמָ֔ה סֹ֧לֶת וּדְבַ֛שׁ וָשֶׁ֖מֶן *אכלתי **אָכָ֑לְתְּ וַתִּ֙יפִי֙ בִּמְאֹ֣ד מְאֹ֔ד וַֽתִּצְלְחִ֖י לִמְלוּכָֽה׃
  
  14 וַיֵּ֨צֵא לָ֥ךְ שֵׁ֛ם בַּגּוֹיִ֖ם בְּיָפְיֵ֑ךְ כִּ֣י ׀ כָּלִ֣יל ה֗וּא בַּֽהֲדָרִי֙ אֲשֶׁר־שַׂ֣מְתִּי עָלַ֔יִךְ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃

  15 וַתִּבְטְחִ֣י בְיָפְיֵ֔ךְ וַתִּזְנִ֖י עַל־שְׁמֵ֑ךְ וַתִּשְׁפְּכִ֧י אֶת־תַּזְנוּתַ֛יִךְ עַל־כָּל־עוֹבֵ֖ר לוֹ־יֶֽהִי׃
  
  16 וַתִּקְחִ֣י מִבְּגָדַ֗יִךְ וַתַּֽעֲשִׂי־לָךְ֙ בָּמ֣וֹת טְלֻא֔וֹת וַתִּזְנִ֖י עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לֹ֥א בָא֖וֹת וְלֹ֥א יִהְיֶֽה׃
  
  17 וַתִּקְחִ֞י כְּלֵ֣י תִפְאַרְתֵּ֗ךְ מִזְּהָבִ֤י וּמִכַּסְפִּי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתַ֣תִּי לָ֔ךְ וַתַּעֲשִׂי־לָ֖ךְ צַלְמֵ֣י זָכָ֑ר וַתִּזְנִי־בָֽם׃
  
  18 וַתִּקְחִ֛י אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֥י רִקְמָתֵ֖ךְ וַתְּכַסִּ֑ים וְשַׁמְנִי֙ וּקְטָרְתִּ֔י *נתתי **נָתַ֖תְּ לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
  
  19 וְלַחְמִי֩ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֨תִּי לָ֜ךְ סֹ֣לֶת וָשֶׁ֤מֶן וּדְבַשׁ֙ הֶֽאֱכַלְתִּ֔יךְ וּנְתַתִּ֧יהוּ לִפְנֵיהֶ֛ם לְרֵ֥יחַ נִיחֹ֖חַ וַיֶּ֑הִי נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃
  
  20 וַתִּקְחִ֞י אֶת־בָּנַ֤יִךְ וְאֶת־בְּנוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָלַ֣דְתְּ לִ֔י וַתִּזְבָּחִ֥ים לָהֶ֖ם לֶאֱכ֑וֹל הַמְעַ֖ט *מתזנתך **מִתַּזְנוּתָֽיִךְ׃
  
  21 וַֽתִּשְׁחֲטִ֖י אֶת־בָּנָ֑י וַֽתִּתְּנִ֔ים בְּהַעֲבִ֥יר אוֹתָ֖ם לָהֶֽם׃
  
  22 וְאֵ֤ת כָּל־תּוֹעֲבֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ וְתַזְנֻתַ֔יִךְ לֹ֥א *זכרתי **זָכַ֖רְתְּ אֶת־יְמֵ֣י נְעוּרָ֑יִךְ בִּֽהְיוֹתֵךְ֙ עֵרֹ֣ם וְעֶרְיָ֔ה מִתְבּוֹסֶ֥סֶת בְּדָמֵ֖ךְ הָיִֽית׃
  
  23 וַיְהִ֕י אַחֲרֵ֖י כָּל־רָעָתֵ֑ךְ א֣וֹי א֣וֹי לָ֔ךְ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃
  
  24 וַתִּבְנִי־לָ֖ךְ גֶּ֑ב וַתַּעֲשִׂי־לָ֥ךְ רָמָ֖ה בְּכָל־רְחֽוֹב׃
  
  25 אֶל־כָּל־רֹ֣אשׁ דֶּ֗רֶךְ בָּנִית֙ רָֽמָתֵ֔ךְ וַתְּתַֽעֲבִי֙ אֶת־יָפְיֵ֔ךְ וַתְּפַשְּׂקִ֥י אֶת־רַגְלַ֖יִךְ לְכָל־עוֹבֵ֑ר וַתַּרְבִּ֖י אֶת־*תזנתך **תַּזְנוּתָֽיִךְ׃
  
  26 וַתִּזְנִ֧י אֶל־בְּנֵֽי־מִצְרַ֛יִם שְׁכֵנַ֖יִךְ גִּדְלֵ֣י בָשָׂ֑ר וַתַּרְבִּ֥י אֶת־תַּזְנֻתֵ֖ךְ לְהַכְעִיסֵֽנִי׃
  
  27 וְהִנֵּ֨ה נָטִ֤יתִי יָדִי֙ עָלַ֔יִךְ וָאֶגְרַ֖ע חֻקֵּ֑ךְ וָאֶתְּנֵ֞ךְ בְּנֶ֤פֶשׁ שֹׂנְאוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ בְּנ֣וֹת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים הַנִּכְלָמ֖וֹת מִדַּרְכֵּ֥ךְ זִמָּֽה׃
  
  28 וַתִּזְנִי֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י אַשּׁ֔וּר מִבִּלְתִּ֖י שָׂבְעָתֵ֑ךְ וַתִּזְנִ֕ים וְגַ֖ם לֹ֥א שָׂבָֽעַתְּ׃
  
  29 וַתַּרְבִּ֧י אֶת־תַּזְנוּתֵ֛ךְ אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ כְּנַ֖עַן כַּשְׂדִּ֑ימָה וְגַם־בְּזֹ֖את לֹ֥א שָׂבָֽעַתְּ׃
  
  30 מָ֤ה אֲמֻלָה֙ לִבָּתֵ֔ךְ נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֑ה בַּעֲשׂוֹתֵךְ֙ אֶת־כָּל־אֵ֔לֶּה מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה אִשָּֽׁה־זוֹנָ֖ה שַׁלָּֽטֶת׃
  
  31 בִּבְנוֹתַ֤יִךְ גַּבֵּךְ֙ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ כָּל־דֶּ֔רֶךְ וְרָמָתֵ֥ךְ *עשיתי **עָשִׂ֖ית בְּכָל־רְח֑וֹב וְלֹא־*הייתי **הָיִ֥ית כַּזּוֹנָ֖ה לְקַלֵּ֥ס אֶתְנָֽן׃
  
  32 הָאִשָּׁ֖ה הַמְּנָאָ֑פֶת תַּ֣חַת אִישָׁ֔הּ תִּקַּ֖ח אֶת־זָרִֽים׃
  
  33 לְכָל־זֹנ֖וֹת יִתְּנוּ־נֵ֑דֶה וְאַ֨תְּ נָתַ֤תְּ אֶת־נְדָנַ֙יִךְ֙ לְכָל־מְאַֽהֲבַ֔יִךְ וַתִּשְׁחֳדִ֣י אוֹתָ֗ם לָב֥וֹא אֵלַ֛יִךְ מִסָּבִ֖יב בְּתַזְנוּתָֽיִךְ׃
  
  34 וַיְהִי־בָ֨ךְ הֵ֤פֶךְ מִן־הַנָּשִׁים֙ בְּתַזְנוּתַ֔יִךְ וְאַחֲרַ֖יִךְ לֹ֣א זוּנָּ֑ה וּבְתִתֵּ֣ךְ אֶתְנָ֗ן וְאֶתְנַ֛ן לֹ֥א נִתַּן־לָ֖ךְ וַתְּהִ֥י לְהֶֽפֶךְ׃
  
  35 לָכֵ֣ן זוֹנָ֔ה שִׁמְעִ֖י דְּבַר־יְהוָֽה׃
  
  36 כֹּֽה־אָמַ֞ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהֹוִ֗ה יַ֣עַן הִשָּׁפֵ֤ךְ נְחֻשְׁתֵּךְ֙ וַתִּגָּלֶ֣ה עֶרְוָתֵ֔ךְ בְּתַזְנוּתַ֖יִךְ עַל־מְאַהֲבָ֑יִךְ וְעַל֙ כָּל־גִּלּוּלֵ֣י תוֹעֲבוֹתַ֔יִךְ וְכִדְמֵ֣י בָנַ֔יִךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תְּ לָהֶֽם׃
  
  37 לָ֠כֵן הִנְנִ֨י מְקַבֵּ֤ץ אֶת־כָּל־מְאַהֲבַ֙יִךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָרַ֣בְתְּ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וְאֵת֙ כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָהַ֔בְתְּ עַ֖ל כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׂנֵ֑את וְקִבַּצְתִּי֩ אֹתָ֨ם עָלַ֜יִךְ מִסָּבִ֗יב וְגִלֵּיתִ֤י עֶרְוָתֵךְ֙ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם וְרָא֖וּ אֶת־כָּל־עֶרְוָתֵֽךְ׃
  
  38 וּשְׁפַטְתִּיךְ֙ מִשְׁפְּטֵ֣י נֹאֲפ֔וֹת וְשֹׁפְכֹ֖ת דָּ֑ם וּנְתַתִּ֕יךְ דַּ֥ם חֵמָ֖ה וְקִנְאָֽה׃
  
  39 וְנָתַתִּ֨י אוֹתָ֜ךְ בְּיָדָ֗ם וְהָרְס֤וּ גַבֵּךְ֙ וְנִתְּצ֣וּ רָמֹתַ֔יִךְ וְהִפְשִׁ֤יטוּ אוֹתָךְ֙ בְּגָדַ֔יִךְ וְלָקְח֖וּ כְּלֵ֣י תִפְאַרְתֵּ֑ךְ וְהִנִּיח֖וּךְ עֵירֹ֥ם וְעֶרְיָֽה׃
  
  40 וְהֶעֱל֤וּ עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ קָהָ֔ל וְרָגְמ֥וּ אוֹתָ֖ךְ בָּאָ֑בֶן וּבִתְּק֖וּךְ בְּחַרְבוֹתָֽם׃
  
  41 וְשָׂרְפ֤וּ בָתַּ֙יִךְ֙ בָּאֵ֔שׁ וְעָשׂוּ־בָ֣ךְ שְׁפָטִ֔ים לְעֵינֵ֖י נָשִׁ֣ים רַבּ֑וֹת וְהִשְׁבַּתִּיךְ֙ מִזּוֹנָ֔ה וְגַם־אֶתְנַ֖ן לֹ֥א תִתְּנִי־עֽוֹד׃
  
  42 וַהֲנִחֹתִ֤י חֲמָתִי֙ בָּ֔ךְ וְסָ֥רָה קִנְאָתִ֖י מִמֵּ֑ךְ וְשָׁ֣קַטְתִּ֔י וְלֹ֥א אֶכְעַ֖ס עֽוֹד׃
  
  43 יַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־*זכרתי **זָכַרְתְּ֙ אֶת־יְמֵ֣י נְעוּרַ֔יִךְ וַתִּרְגְּזִי־לִ֖י בְּכָל־אֵ֑לֶּה וְגַם־אֲנִ֨י הֵ֜א דַּרְכֵּ֣ךְ ׀ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ נָתַ֗תִּי נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה וְלֹ֤א *עשיתי **עָשִׂית֙ אֶת־הַזִּמָּ֔ה עַ֖ל כָּל־תּוֹעֲבֹתָֽיִךְ׃

  57 בְּטֶרֶם֮ תִּגָּלֶ֣ה רָעָתֵךְ֒ כְּמ֗וֹ עֵ֚ת חֶרְפַּ֣ת בְּנוֹת־אֲרָ֔ם וְכָל־סְבִיבוֹתֶ֖יהָ בְּנ֣וֹת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים הַשָּׁאט֥וֹת אוֹתָ֖ךְ מִסָּבִֽיב׃
  
  58 אֶת־זִמָּתֵ֥ךְ וְאֶת־תּוֹעֲבוֹתַ֖יִךְ אַ֣תְּ נְשָׂאתִ֑ים נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃
  
  59 כִּ֣י כֹ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה *ועשית **וְעָשִׂ֥יתִי אוֹתָ֖ךְ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֑ית אֲשֶׁר־בָּזִ֥ית אָלָ֖ה לְהָפֵ֥ר בְּרִֽית׃
  
  60 וְזָכַרְתִּ֨י אֲנִ֧י אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֛י אוֹתָ֖ךְ בִּימֵ֣י נְעוּרָ֑יִךְ וַהֲקִמוֹתִ֥י לָ֖ךְ בְּרִ֥ית עוֹלָֽם׃
  
  61 וְזָכַ֣רְתְּ אֶת־דְּרָכַיִךְ֮ וְנִכְלַמְתְּ֒ בְּקַחְתֵּ֗ךְ אֶת־אֲחוֹתַ֙יִךְ֙ הַגְּדֹל֣וֹת מִמֵּ֔ךְ אֶל־הַקְּטַנּ֖וֹת מִמֵּ֑ךְ וְנָתַתִּ֨י אֶתְהֶ֥ן לָ֛ךְ לְבָנ֖וֹת וְלֹ֥א מִבְּרִיתֵֽךְ׃

  1 Again the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
  
  2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations;
  
  3 and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh to Jerusalem: Your birth and your birth is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was your father, and your mother was a Hittite.
  
  4 As for your birth, in the day you were born your navel was not cut, neither were you washed in water to cleanse you; you weren't salted at all, nor swaddled at all.
  
  5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you, to have compassion on you; but you were cast out in the open field, for that your person was abhorred, in the day that you were born.
  
  6 When I passed by you, and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you, Though you are in your blood, live; yes, I said to you, Though you are in your blood, live.
  
  7 I caused you to multiply as that which grows in the field, and you increased and grew great, and you attained to excellent ornament; your breasts were fashioned, and your hair was grown; yet you were naked and bare.
  
  8 Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord Yahweh, and you became mine.
  
  9 Then washed I you with water; yes, I thoroughly washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil.
  
  10 I clothed you also with embroidered work, and shod you with sealskin, and I dressed you about with fine linen, and covered you with silk.
  
  11 I decked you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your hands, and a chain on your neck.
  
  12 I put a ring on your nose, and earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.
  
  13 Thus you were decked with gold and silver; and your clothing was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered work; you ate fine flour, and honey, and oil; and you were exceeding beautiful, and you prospered to royal estate.
  
  14 Your renown went forth among the nations for your beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put on you, says the Lord Yahweh.

  15 But you trusted in your beauty, and played the prostitute because of your renown, and poured out your prostitution on everyone who passed by; his it was.
  
  16 You took of your garments, and made for yourselves high places decked with various colors, and played the prostitute on them: [the like things] shall not come, neither shall it be [so].
  
  17 You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of men, and played the prostitute with them;
  
  18 and you took your embroidered garments, and covered them, and set my oil and my incense before them.
  
  19 My bread also which I gave you, fine flour, and oil, and honey, with which I fed you, you even set it before them for a pleasant aroma; and [thus] it was, says the Lord Yahweh.
  
  20 Moreover you have taken your sons and your daughters, whom you have borne to me, and you have sacrificed these to them to be devoured. Was your prostitution a small matter,
  
  21 that you have slain my children, and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through [the fire] to them?
  
  22 In all your abominations and your prostitution you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and were wallowing in your blood.
  
  23 It has happened after all your wickedness, (woe, woe to you! says the Lord Yahweh),
  
  24 that you have built for yourselves a vaulted place, and have made yourselves a lofty place in every street.
  
  25 You have built your lofty place at the head of every way, and have made your beauty an abomination, and have opened your feet to everyone who passed by, and multiplied your prostitution.
  
  26 You have also committed sexual immorality with the Egyptians, your neighbors, great of flesh; and have multiplied your prostitution, to provoke me to anger.
  
  27 See therefore, I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your ordinary [food], and delivered you to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way.
  
  28 You have played the prostitute also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the prostitute with them, and yet you weren't satisfied.
  
  29 You have moreover multiplied your prostitution to the land of merchants, to Chaldea; and yet you weren't satisfied with this.
  
  30 How weak is your heart, says the Lord Yahweh, since you do all these things, the work of an impudent prostitute;
  
  31 in that you build your vaulted place at the head of every way, and make your lofty place in every street, and have not been as a prostitute, in that you scorn pay.
  
  32 A wife who commits adultery! who takes strangers instead of her husband!
  
  33 They give gifts to all prostitutes; but you give your gifts to all your lovers, and bribe them, that they may come to you on every side for your prostitution.
  
  34 You are different from [other] women in your prostitution, in that no one follows you to play the prostitute; and whereas you give hire, and no hire is given to you, therefore you are different.
  
  35 Therefore, prostitute, hear the word of Yahweh:
  
  36 Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness uncovered through your prostitution with your lovers; and because of all the idols of your abominations, and for the blood of your children, that you gave to them;
  
  37 therefore see, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those who you have loved, with all those who you have hated; I will even gather them against you on every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.
  
  38 I will judge you, as women who break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.
  
  39 I will also give you into their hand, and they shall throw down your vaulted place, and break down your lofty places; and they shall strip you of your clothes, and take your beautiful jewels; and they shall leave you naked and bare.
  
  40 They shall also bring up a company against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords.
  
  41 They shall burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women; and I will cause you to cease from playing the prostitute, and you shall also give no hire any more.
  
  42 So will I cause my wrath toward you to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.
  
  43 Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring your way on your head, says the Lord Yahweh: and you shall not commit this lewdness with all your abominations.

  44 Behold, everyone who uses proverbs shall use [this] proverb against you, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.
  
  45 You are the daughter of your mother, who loathes her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
  
  46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells at your left hand, she and her daughters; and your younger sister, who dwells at your right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.
  
  47 Yet have you not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as [if that were] a very little [thing], you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.
  
  48 As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, Sodom your sister has not done, she nor her daughters, as you have done, you and your daughters.
  
  49 Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
  
  50 They were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw [good].
  
  51 Neither has Samaria committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done.
  
  52 You also, bear you your own shame, in that you have given judgment for your sisters; through your sins that you have committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous that you: yes, be also confounded, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.
  
  53 I will turn again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of your captives in their midst;
  
  54 that you may bear your own shame, and may be ashamed because of all that you have done, in that you are a comfort to them.
  
  55 Your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate; and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; and you and your daughters shall return to your former estate.
  
  56 For your sister Sodom was not mentioned by your mouth in the day of your pride,
  
  57 before your wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all who are around her, the daughters of the Philistines, who do despite to you all around.
  
  58 You have borne your lewdness and your abominations, says Yahweh.
  
  59 For thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will also deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
  
  60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.
  
  61 Then you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you shall receive your sisters, your elder [sisters] and your younger; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant.
  
  62 I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall know that I am Yahweh;
  
  63 that you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth any more, because of your shame, when I have forgiven you all that you have done, says the Lord Yahweh.
