Je verserai ton sang. Cette expression s'applique et à la peine du meutrier (l'épée) et à celle de l'adultère (la lapidation) ; comparez verset 40. Jérusalem était en effet coupable de ce double chef.

Fureur et jalousie : le premier de ces termes porte sur le crime de meurtre ; le second sur l'adultère. Le terme de jalousie, revient plusieurs fois dans l'ordonnance Nombres 5.14-31, relative à la punition de la femme adultère (l'esprit de jalousie, versets 14 et 30, le gâteau de jalousie, versets 15,18,25.)
