Dieu oppose ce qu'il fera, lui, à ce qu'a fait Nébucadnestar. Celui-ci a transplanté la cime du cèdre (le rejeton de la maison royale de Juda) en Babylonie. Dieu prendra de l'extrémité de l'une de ses branches un faible rameau, qu'il replantera dans le sol d'Israël et qui, devenant un cèdre plus grand que tous les autres arbres, abritera la terre entière. Il est évident qu'Ezéchiel ne peut penser ici qu'au Messie et à son règne universel. Déjà Esaïe avait représenté, Esaïe 12.1, le Messie comme un rejeton surgissant des racines du tronc d'Esaïe (le père de David), et Esaïe 53.2, comme un rejeton s'élevant d'une terre aride devant l'Eternel. Toutes ces images expriment l'état d'abaissement où se trouvera la maison royale au moment où en sortira le Messie. Cette parabole semble absolument décrire Jésus, le fils de David, le Messie envoyé par Dieu. Le royaume de Satan, qui a eu de tous temps une emprise sur ce monde, sera finalement détruit, alors que le celui de Christ, le Sauveur qui fut préalablement méprisé, sera rétabli !Béni soit Dieu, il est possible de voir notre Rédempteur de toutes les extrémités de la terre ! En Lui, nous pouvons trouver le refuge qui nous préservera de la Colère divine ; à l’ombre de Ses ailes, nous sommes à l’abri des dangers créés par l’ennemi ; par Lui, les croyants peuvent produire du fruit spirituel !
