Une alliance de paix : cette alliance nouvelle dont Jérémie avait signalé les caractères intérieurs (Jérémie 31.31 et suivants), est décrite ici par Ezéchiel au point de vue des bienfaits extérieurs.

Les bêtes féroces : les peuples païens qui jadis ravageaient le pays.

La forêt : l'endroit ordinairement le moins sûr pour les brebis. Cette image indique l'éloignement absolu de tout danger.
